Question Why are these systems cloud connected?
AnswerWe live in a connected world, and we do this so we can properly manage and control the spaces we live in. It helps to optimise the services to be efficient and give the best possible performance and measurement outcomes.
Question Is the cloud data secure?
AnswerThe data is stored and managed in the cloud on AWS or similar services. These are business enterprise quality systems and are very secure. The IoT devices (Sensors and Filters etc) are all enabled with secure, unique TOKENS that are generated by the AWS service and managed over the Internet / Wi-Fi service.
Question What's the difference between filtration and whole of room treatment?
AnswerFiltration only applies to the air that passes directly through the filtration system. If you think about air-conditioning systems, they put out cold or warm air, but this interacts with other air in the space to cool or heat the room, therefore, you have a very constant air temperature. With treatment by Radical Hydroxyl, (OH) the whole air space is “treated” as the OH has a “domino effect” where the OH cascade throughout the room space by interaction with water (H2O) to form another radical. This domino effect allows the OH to move out into the air space and even penetrate the fabrics in the room furnishing. Over time, this will reduce and remove odours from the room, such as smoke and pet odours.
Question Why do I need sensors?
AnswerWe need sensors to monitor the indoor air quality for things that we may not be able to see or smell, such as PM (Particle matter), VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) and CO2 levels.  This is one part of the management and reporting of our personal space and lifestyle.
Question But the sensor data changes a lot through the day. Why?
AnswerThat is correct – the actual air quality can and does vary considerably. While the temperature and humidity have a quite predictable change through the day, VOC, PM 2.5 PM10 and CO2 can and will show quite dramatically changes. The ventilation of the house and rooms has a big impact on the actual air quality. The term “sick building syndrome” is very real and not confined to some distant office building.  Even the effect of an increase in CO2 can be a significant contributor to ” how you feel” particularly if the room space is closed up (cooling or heating), increases in CO2 can happen quickly and result in poor sleep, or work performance, or just generally feeling off for no apparent reason. Also, the build-up or indoor PM is also quite dramatic, and very high levels can result simply from cooking or other quite normal activity. In fact, some quite alarmingly high PM readings can result from just cooking dinner, and these can stay high if the room space is not ventilated.
Question I need to run the house AC to cool and dehumidify. The AC has a filter, does that room need treatment?
AnswerTypically, the filtration offered by the normal domestic AC is quite limited to a token effect, so yes, the addition of Sensors to monitor the IAQ and an air purifier system may be necessary.

Question What is the importance of STEL and LTEL? (Short-Term and Long -Term Exposure Level)
AnswerAir is made up from a range of elements, and while we can detect odours and related bad or good smells, we can’t usually detect build-up of VOC and other gases. We need to monitor these for establishing or Short (STEL) and Long (LTEL) term exposure, this is not only indoor but also outdoor. The QiTek App is designed to do that by collecting data from existing road-side Air Quality stations and the data from Sensors in the house and office where we spend most of our time. The data is an important part of our overall health planning.
Question I use scented candles to freshen the room. Is that better?
AnswerThis sort of generally wide statement is often used as argument against scented candles:

“When burned, paraffin wax can release toxic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the air including acetone, benzene and toluene, which are known carcinogens. These are the same chemicals found in diesel fuel emissions and are known to cause allergies, asthma attacks and skin problems.”

However, the base studies are not that reliable, and there are also a number of other factors, such as the airspace itself, and the volume of PM and VOC. There are certainly cases where people with asthma and other issues, including age, where we need to be somewhat careful about what else is introduced into the air.  The use of Filtration and Treatment will reduce the PM and VOC present, and that’s a good thing. Also, the use of the OH Radical will see the scent in the air simply as another VOC and will reduce or eliminate the odour anyway.

Question What is the odour I feel is in the room when the treatment has been running?
AnswerActually, this is an interesting effect. The use of the OH Radical will remove almost all odour, which is an unusual effect to most people, i.e. “there is no odour”. But what you will more likely notice, is an improvement in your breathing and respiratory comfort, which can also lead to improved sleep patterns.
Question How long will it take for the treatment to clean a room?
AnswerTypically, the Filtration and OH from these systems will take a few days to fully clean the room and furnishings, etc, as long as the source of other contamination has been removed.
